Templates & Themes

Templates set the design of your pages, posts, etc. This is a changing feature of WordPress. The templates are specific to the theme you use. The amount of work needed to set up templates, created a market for themes that came with already designed templates. If you change your theme, you will likely have to edit or create your templates.

Two of the most popular 3rd party themes are Divi and Astra. These 3rd party themes began when WordPress provided fewer aids to create pages. Both of these themes include page builders that are intended to make page creation easier. The page builder functionality is also used to edit the template pages.

Divi has been making major changes to how it creates pages. Divi seems to have very few limitations on what can be created. Astra does have some limits on what can be created (footers especially).
